Pleasanton, California - Shaklee Cares, a publicly supported charity that provides assistance to victims in times of emergencies or natural disasters, is donating $15,000 to the ongoing recovery and cleanup efforts resulting from recent tornadoes and severe thunderstorms that have devastated parts of central Oklahoma.

Employees at Shaklee Corporation's Norman, Oklahoma manufacturing facility are working in conjunction with the Disaster Relief Fund of the American Red Cross to ensure the funds are distributed as needed.

"In 1999, the last time disaster struck Moore, Oklahoma, Shaklee Cares responded by sending tens of thousands of dollars worth of monetary donations and products to help with the relief efforts," said Mike Beier, Senior Vice President of Operations for Shaklee's Norman facility. "Shaklee Cares' mission is to restore community health and help people rebuild their lives, and I am proud that we are once again able to offer assistance to local residents who were directly affected, some for the second time in four years, by the recent destructive tornadoes and thunderstorms that have so far caused over $100 million in damages."

A proud member of the central Oklahoma community since 1979, Shaklee has just received commendation from the city of Norman in appreciation of the company's valuable contributions to the city's environmental quality. In addition, Shaklee was recently honored for its works of philanthropy with a 2003 Community Enrichment Award from the Norman Community Foundation.

Shaklee Cares was established in 1992 in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, which devastated parts of Florida. It is committed to helping individuals and communities recover when natural disasters or emergencies strike. For more information, visit www.shakleecares.org.
